The Why be Catholic Conference is an annual invitation to everyone who is interested in deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ - by learning more about Him and His Church, through the sacrifice of the Holy Mass, by spending time with Him in Adoration, and in communion with other members of the body of Christ.

We are all called to know God, to love Him and to serve him, so why not answer this call by registering for this year's Why Be Catholic Conference which will not only enrich your faith life but also equip you to spread the Good News that is Jesus Christ!

2023 Conference Theme

The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." - Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324

Jesus instituted the greatest gift for us on the night before his Passion - The Eucharist. Sadly, there has been a steady decline in those who believe in the Real Presence, much less show true reverence for the Blessed Sacrament.  This has led to a decline in authentic worship (in the liturgy) and a general "luke warmness" has permeated the Catholic life and culture.

Therefore, inspired by the Eucharistic Renewal movements around the world, you are called to respond to the four invitiations:

1. Ars Celebrandi (an authetic liturgical revival)

2. A personal encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist

3. Faith Formation

4. Mission and Evangelisation in our lives

This year, in addition to the main event, there will be lead up events and a very special Thanksgiving Mass.

Join us for an amazing few days of prayer and discovery that will inspire you to a renewed and deeper love of our Eucharistic Lord.

2023 Speaking Team

Tim Staples was a fallen-away Southern Baptist who as a teen came back to faith in Christ through the witness of televangelists.  During his four-year tour with the US Marine Corps, he became friends with a Marine well-versed in his Catholic Faith who challenged Tim to study Catholicism from Catholic and historical sources.  That sparked a two-year search for the truth.  Immediately after his tour of duty, Tim attended Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. He was determined to prove Catholicism wrong, but he studied his way to the last place he thought he would ever end up: the Catholic Church.

He converted in 1988 and spent six years in formation for the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy and studying theology at the graduate level. Realizing that his calling was not to be a priest, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.

Stacy A Trasancos earned a doctorate in chemistry from Penn State University and a master's in dogmatic theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary.  She worked as a chemist for DuPont before leaving to raise children and then becoming Catholic.  Now she teaches chemistry and physics for Kolbe Academy and theology and science courses for Holy Apostles and Seton Hall University.  She has bee na frequent guest on Relevant Radio, Ave Maria Radio, EWTN, Catholic Answers Live, and Subject Matters with Sebastian Gomes of Salt & Light TV.  She has written numerous articles for Catholic publications and is the author of Science Was Born of Christianity: The Teaching of Fr Stanley L Jaki and Particles of Fatih: A Catholic Guide to Navigating Science.  Dr Trasancos has seven children, three grandchildren, two German Shepherds, and lives with her family in Hideaway, Texas.

Cy Kellett is the host of Catholic Answers Live.  He formerly hosted The Bright Side with Cy Kellett on the Immaculate Heart Radio network.  For more than a decade Kellett was editor of San Diego's diocesan newspaper, The Southern Cross.  Before that, he taught high school in and then spent several years working with the homeless mentally ill in Massachusetts while living in a Catholic Worker house.  Kellett and his wife, Missy, have three children.
